Overview

Mardi Himal or Peak, with a height of 5,548m, is a peak underneath the famous Mt Machapuchare(Fishtail). The trail to reach the base camp of the peak is known as Mardi Himal Trek, a recently inaugurated trail in the Annapurna Region.

We, Sabbatical Explore Nepal, are quite happy to present this incredible trek to you. Mardi Himal Trek is a trek that has been in the limelight lately. The walk was only popular among the locals initially, but now tourists worldwide can be found on the trail. Trekkers mainly do this trek to get breathtaking glimpses of Mt Machhapuchhre from Mardi Base Camp(4,100m).

However, if you think that is the only highlight of the hike, it might be wrong. You will start the trip with a scenic ride to Pokhara, either by air or by land. Then from Pokhara, you will head into the Wildside of the Annapurna region which is full of the lushest trees along the trail, traditional rural villages, welcoming people, buzzing rivers, terrace fields, grassy landscapes, and more.

All of those will happen on this Mardi Himal Trek. As you trek ahead, the breathtaking displays of peaks of the region will leave you amazed. Mainly, Mt Machhapuchhre's sight is a joy to watch as you will get a close-angled view of the beauty from the base camp of Mardi Himal(4,100m). Yet, trekkers will enjoy being in the deep and dense woods of the Annapurna Conservation Area.

Half of Mardi Himal Trek is full of greenery and woods. If you love the feeling of breathing in the woods, this is your treat. And, the trek is not one of the toughest ones. If you can trek daily for 6-7 hours on the hills, you probably should not miss this one. Mardi Himal Trek is quite a great trek that offers a beautiful trekking experience. The experience can be of anything from mountains to the people of the region.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu

Just like every guest of ours, we will have you from the Airport on your arrival. We will greet you, and then we will head straight to your hotel for some rest. Once you feel refreshed, we will pick you up again for a welcome dinner and the trek's orientation. We will know each of the members and a detailed Mardi Himal Trekking itinerary. Later you will return to the hotel for the night. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 2: Exploration in Kathmandu

Kathmandu is a lovely city that offers historical and religious evidence of Nepal. For that reason, we will have a full exploration day in Kathmandu. Boudhanath Stupa, Pashupatinath Temple, Swaymbhunath Stupa, Kathmandu Durbar Square, and Patan Durbar Square are the places we will visit here. You will get an experienced city guide for the day. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 3: Drive to Pokhara

Waking up and having our breakfast, we will leave the city for Pokhara. The next 5-6 hours will be spent on the highway that connects Kathmandu with Pokhara, the tourist hub in Nepal. After some rest in a hotel in Pokhara, we will move out to the most happening place in the city, Lake Side. The site allows us a crispy view of the lake, Mt Fishtail, surrounding hills, and a good ambiance. We will return to our hotel after the evening time by the lake.

Day 4: Drive to Phedi and Trek to Pothana(1,890m)

On the fourth day of the Mardi Himal Trek, we will leave Pokhara for Phedi via a drive. The place is the starting point of the hike. We will ascend the stairs of the place to reach a forested trail before Dhampus. The village, Dhampus, offers glorious mountain views. We will have a short rest at Dhampus before rejoining the trek that ultimately ends at Pothana village. Overnight in Pothana.

Day 5: Trek to Forest Camp(2,554m)

Forest Camp will be the destination for the day. We will slowly climb staired uphills through the dense forest area of the region. We will reach Forest Camp by trekking through nothing but the forests of Birch, Maple, Hemlock, and Rhododendron for about 5 hours. We will settle in one of the lodges in Forest Camp amid the greenery.

Day 6: Trek to High Camp(3,980m)

Now, we will ascend towards the High Camp of Mardi Himal Trekking. The green and lush forest will guide us upwards. We have to do steep ascents to reach the High Camp(3,980m) via Rest Camp, Low Camp, and Middle Camp. We will take it slow and calmly. All of the grindings will be worth it when we get sights of Mt Annapurna South, Mt Fishtail, and the absolute serenity from the place. Overnight in High Camp.

Day 7: Trek to Mardi Himal Base Camp(4,500m)

It is time to push for Mardi Himal Base Camp. The road to the base camp is steep and rough but equally offering. We will walk over narrow and rocky sections along the trail to reach the foothills of Mardi Himal. From the base camp, we will experience some unreal scenery of the mountains in the Annapurna Region. As said earlier, Mt Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) will leave your mouth all open. Following some beautiful time in the base camp, we will return to high camp for the night.

Day 8: Trek to Siding Village

Having already achieved Mardi Himal Base Camp, we will now descend to Siding village(1280m). It will be a long downhill trek of a minimum of 7 hrs. The hike should be comfortable for anyone. We will keep on enjoying the mountains and terrains of the region all day long. Overnight in a lovely village of Siding.

Day 9: Trek to Saidighatta and Drive to Pokhara

We will start with a descent to Lumre. En route to the place, we will pass by the terraces of several Tamang and Gurung villages. Following, we will join a ride back to Pokhara. Overnight in a hotel.

Day 10: Exploration day in Pokhara

Pokhara, the place to be for any tourist, offers many things to its visitors. Pokhara offers many things, from boat rides, paragliding, cycling, bungee jumping, and zipline to cave visits. It will be a free day to do any of the activities in Pokhara. Overnight in Pokhara.

Day 11: Drive back to Kathmandu

By this time, we will have finished all the things of the Mardi Himal Trek. And we will make a return to Kathmandu through the same serpentine highway. On our arrival in Kathmandu, we will go to the hotel for a deserving rest. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 12: Final Departure

We will bid goodbyes to each other at the end of this beautiful Mardi Himal Trekking. The team will drop you at the Tribhuvan International Airport(TIA). Farewell! See you on your next trip with us.
