Travel safe, fun, meaningful and unforgettable
Everest Base Camp Trek, by far, is one of the most beautiful treks in the world. That is why the trail greets thousands of trekkers every year. As it is a popular trek, you will find multiple itineraries to do it. The Short Everest Base Camp Trek by Sabbatical Explore Nepal is one of them.
Short Everest Base Camp is a shortened itinerary of only twelve days, mainly for the rapid and experienced trekkers. In contrast, the standard Everest Base Camp Trek is a 17-day plan. If you do not have seventeen days but can manage twelve days, this short trek to Everest Base Camp is your savior.
Yet, you need to be a prior high-altitude trekker for this itinerary. The Everest Short Trek is a rapid one where you will have no acclimatization days like in other similar packages. Also, you will be trekking a proper distance every day, acquiring good elevation. Therefore, you should be pretty experienced in such quick high-altitude treks. If you can smash the walk smoothly, you will have great memories on the journey to Mt Everest.
To tell you, Everest Base Camp Short Trekking is the quickest way to witness the limitless magnificence of the Everest or Khumbu Region. On the journey of 12 days, you will pass through the famous Sherpa settlements such as Lukla, Phakding, Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Lobuche, and more. You will have ideas about their culture and lifestyle. Similarly, you will encounter the flora and fauna of Sagarmatha National Park. The swinging bridges, prayer flags, monasteries, and gompas are other trek highlights.
Throughout the trek and from Everest Base Camp(5,364m) and Kala Patthar(5,555m), you will enjoy the region's majestic mountains. The breathtaking mountain views are the most satisfying part of this Short Everest Base Camp Trek. Your every uphill climb, sweatdrop, and altitude gain will be worth it when you see majestic visions of Mt Ama Dablam, Mt Everest, Mt Cho Oyu, Mt Lhotse, and many more.
In a sentence, 12 days Short Everest Base Camp Trek is just a compressed form of the regular EBC trek. You will have everything as in the standard trek but within ten days. That is the only difference.

Hold your breath! The Himalayas will warmly welcome you to Nepal, and so will our representatives. They will meet you at the airport for your welcome. After the welcome, you will get a hotel transfer. You will take a rest at the hotel. In the evening, we’ll invite you for a welcome dinner. We will get to know each other and about the trek during dinner. Overnight in Kathmandu.
The adventure begins here! We’ll have a morning flight to Lukla, a picturesque one. Enjoying the Himalayas and the landscapes of Nepal, we’ll land at Lukla Aiport. We’ll start walking to Phakding after getting our things and other stuff done. The trek to Phakding will happen through vegetation and the Dudh Koshi River. We’ll cross some Sherpa villages also to reach Phakding. Overnight in Phakding.
The walk continues! We will leave Phakding behind by joining a forested trail. Rhododendrons trees will guide us forward. In between, we’ll cross suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi River as well. Before reaching Namche, we have to register our entry into Sagarmatha National Park. And walking through the park, we’ll reach Namche Bazaar, a busy town in the hills. Overnight in Namche.
Namche Bazaar time is over for now. We’ll join an elevating track to depart from Namche’s streets. Soon we’ll gain enough altitude to see striking views of Mt Ama Dablam, Lhote, Everest, and other peaks. Then we’ll enter a pine forest to move ahead, where we might run across some wildlife. En route, we’ll cross some more hanging bridges. After 5-6 hrs of leaving Namche, we’ll see Tengboche village in front. Overnight in Tengboche.
Bewitching! We will wake up to a mouth-opening view of the mountains in Tengboche. After breakfast at the teahouse and taking blessings from the Tengboche monastery, we’ll move towards Dingboche. The trail will gain more heights as we pass through villages, mani walls, and chortens. We’ll trek on the riverbed of the Imja River for a while to enter the Imja Valley. Then we’ll reach Dingboche, a village with glorious peaks in the backdrop. Overnight in Dingboche.
Half of the journey is made! To keep it going, we’ll take the exit from Dingboche. And we’ll walk on the Khumbu Glacier’s lateral moraines. Along the walk, we’ll keep viewing the region's mountains in front of us all the time. We’ll also pass by a site full of stone memorials dedicated to the lost souls in the Himalayas. And finally, we’ll reach Lobuche for the night.
The most awaited day is here! We’ll continue traversing on the lateral moraine of the glacier. Shortly after some hours of walking, we’ll do a steep hike to arrive at Gorak Shep. Upon reaching Gorak Shep’s teahouses, we’ll keep our belongings at one of the places. Then we’ll head towards Everest Base Camp. We will ultimately set foot at Everest Base Camp(5,364m). It will be a glorious moment when we’ll see Mt Everest from its base camp. Along with Everest and its adjacent peaks, we’ll see glaciers, giant stones, and tented campsites. After the view, we will trace back to Gorak Shep for the night.
The even better day is here! We will wake up early in Gorak Shep to hike to Kala Patthar. The hike to Kala Patthar will provide us with a breathtaking sunrise view over the world’s highest peaks. Kala Patthar is also best known for its close view of Mt Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, Chumbu, Kangtega, Tobouche, and more. We’ll enjoy all the pictures. After that, we’ll descend back to Gorak Shep for breakfast. And then we’ll start trekking towards Pheriche, a scenic village. Overnight in Pheriche.
It’s home returning trek now! We shall now return to Namche Bazaar. The walk will become easier now with mostly descending one. We will have a facile walk through the rhododendron forest, villages, and suspension bridges to reach Namche Bazaar in the evening. Overnight in Namche.
The final trekking day of the Short Everest Base Camp Trek! We will have a long trekking day from Namche to Lukla. Through the exact trail, that we walked earlier during the first days of the trek, we’ll arrive in Lukla. We will get more of the Dudh Koshi River, villages, and Sagarmatha National Park. Overnight in Lukla.
We’ll have a morning flight back to Kathmandu if the climate is okay. The plane will fly over the landscapes and the Himalayas. In the sky, we’ll have the view once again. After 40 minutes of air time, we’ll land in Kathmandu. We’ll drop you back at your hotel for a well-deserved rest. You can do shopping and sightseeing during this free time in Kathmandu. After Everest Base Camp Trek, I did tour to Pokhara and Chitwan National Park. I am thankful to Shiva and his Sabbatical Explore Team for managing a great guide for my trek. I knew the trek is beautiful but not entirely. All the prayer flags, busy farm fields, like traditional hamlets, and yes giant peaks, these all are running through my mind while writing this. Thanks for this amazing trek. The guide helped me deal with the challenges of the trek without getting anxious. Thanks to him and the team! I suggest this group of experts to everyone reading my experience. You won't regret joining them. I am not!

“I had a lot of fun on this trek. We had a seven days trek to Langtang from Kathmandu. My guide Sabin karki was super awesome. He was motivating, fun, and the perfect companion for the given situation. I am more than happy with the service provided on this trip. They organized the whole trek in a way that allowed me to both acclimatize progressively and enjoy the Langtang valley beauty. I had a blast and had the time of my life. Thank you so much, Sabbatical Explore Nepal, and Sabin karki for making this trip possible :).”

After Bhaktapur, we went to trekking to Kalo and Seto kunda. It was major with two holy lakes of Nepal which helps to shows the Himalayan beauty of Ganesh Himal. The one who offers for trekking in Kalo and Seto Kunda got a great opportunity to learn and experience typical Tamang and Gurung culture.
The trek of Kalo and Seto Kunda was with the guide and he had arranged of vehicles from Kathmandu to Syabrubeshi which takes 8 to 9 hours to reach Syabrubeshi. Syabrubeshi is taken as the gateway to Langtang valley which is situated at the confluence of Bhotekosi River and Langtang Khola. i and my friend will defenately visit again to Kathmandu and we are sure for Social Tourism & Sabbatical Explore Nepal are the best career break trip planner in Nepal.
